Tracy Hecht

Dr. Tracy Hecht
Tracy Hecht completed her Ph.D. (2002) in Industrial and Organizational
Psychology at the University of Western Ontario (UWO). Prior to that, she completed her B.Sc. in Psychology at McGill University (1994) and her M.A. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at UWO (1997). Dr. Hecht was an Assistant Professor at the Asper School of Business (University of Manitoba) prior to taking up an appointment as Assistant Professor at the John Molson School of Business (Concordia University) 3 years ago. Dr. Hecht's current research explores work-life balance in the Canadian workforce. She examines the boundaries that exist between employees’ work and their personal lives, and how the strength of these boundaries influences, and is influenced by, employee attitudes and
well-being. She also seeks to understand how participation in different roles (e.g., work, family, leisure, and community) can enhance and facilitate well-being, rather than create conflict and stress. Other areas in which Dr. Hecht conducts research include the process of multi-tasking, the phenomenon of telecommuting, and the dynamics of teams in organizations. Her research has been presented at national and internal conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals. In her role as professor, Dr. Hecht also teaches on the topics of organizational behaviour, employee training and development, and
conducting research in business settings.
